General Laboratory Guidelines

Training

All training on instrumentation must be done by Division of Science Core staff members. Training of fellow researchers or colleagues on the Core’s instrumentation is prohibited. If your colleagues are interested in using our resources, please ask them to contact Claire Reardon (claire@cgr.harvard.edu) before working in the Core.

Bench Space

  1. Many instruments have bench space close by that can be used for setting up experiments. You are welcome to use this space and the pipettors near each instrument while you are here.
  2. Please leave any work area in the same condition in which you found it. Discard any trash, clean up any spills, and remove all items that you brought with you.
  3. If you need long-term access to bench space or sample storage, please speak to Claire Reardon at 617-384-7913 or claire@cgr.harvard.edu
  4. Do not move instrumentation, even small equipment, without permission from a Core staff member.

Laboratory Supplies and Reagents

Use of reagents and disposable lab supplies will require that you provide an internal code for billing. We will charge you for the cost of the materials that are used.

Please Be Respectful

The staff of the Division of Science Core take pride in its collaborative working environment, friendly atmosphere, and easy accessibility. Please be respectful of the instrumentation, lab space, and other people working in the labs. Failure to follow this important guideline may result in revoked privileges and denial of access to center resources.
